The Producers

Many of the world’s top wines are from small vineyards.  At auswineonline.co.uk  we  have been privileged to secure two of Western Australia’s finest boutique operations that are now attaining status levels beyond their years!

Flametree Winery is located in the north of the Margaret River region at Dunsborough.  They select exceptional quality fruit to produce beautifully hand-crafted wines with unique flavour, structure and depth.  Named after the native Australian Flametree, which comes into full and spectacular flower only when all conditions are favourable – Flametree believe the same is true of winemaking.  To produce spectacular wine all of the elements, from grape to glass, must come together at the same time.
Flametree won the trophy for Most Successful WA Winery under 300 tonnes at the Perth Wine Show ’08 & ‘09 on the back of gold medals for its ’07 Cabernet Merlot, plus a silver for its ’08 Sauvignon Blanc Semillon and a bronze for the ’07 Shiraz.  The Cabernet Merlot continued to shine, blitzing the field at the Qantas Wine Show of WA, winning multiple trophies and winning the “Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy” which is the Oscar for Australian winemakers.

Kalgan River Wines is located approximately 40k from Albany in the Great Southern region of Western Australia.  In peaceful seclusion, with an abundance of clean air and perfect soils, the vines are planted on the northern facing slopes of the beautiful Kalgan River.
John & Di Ciprian planted their first vines in 2000, survived a drought for two years, and now have a lush, healthy vineyard  with as little interference from them as possible.  Currently their small planting of approximately 20 hectares consists of Riesling, Chardonnay, Viognier, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz.  They aim for quality fruit and tend the vines to produce maximum flavor, not quantity.
Kalgan River Riesling ’05, ’06 and ’07 has received acclaim with medals at the Sydney International Wine Show.  The ‘07 Shiraz Viognier received a Gold at the Sydney Show.
